Background to the introduction of the People Mover
Durban’s picturesque Golden Mile (on the beachfront) and thriving CBD needed a public mode of transport that would service the local business, residential and tourist markets while showcasing the jewels of the city. The transport needed to be safe, entertaining, punctual, accommodate disabled people and provide extended accessibility beyond business hours.
This service does not compete with the existing Mynah or Taxi services. It has its own unique routes, operational phases and pricing structure. The People Mover has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety of passengers both on board and at the seventeen stops.
